Foiling from your stomach
Glide on the board while lying flat, becoming comfortable with the hand control and moving across the water. Make turns slower then faster while building confidence. Your first experience of flight over water.
How We Operate
How we teach every session. From equipment intro through four steps to get you foiling. Your safety is our priority.
Glide on the board while lying flat, becoming comfortable with the hand control and moving across the water. Make turns slower then faster while building confidence. Your first experience of flight over water.
Move from your stomach to kneeling on the board, continuing to build awareness of how the board, student, and hand controller work in unison.
A big step that's easily obtainable once you're comfortable with the hand control and balance. Take your time, stay in the moment, and you'll move quickly to the next level.
As confidence builds, add power and adjust your weight and foot placement to truly FOIL, consistently flying over water for long periods. You've done it.
FAQ
Straight answers about pricing, swim requirements, and how we teach on the Charlotte lakes.
Private lessons are $150 for one rider for about 90 minutes. You can add a second rider on their own board for $100. Group sessions (up to 10 riders with instructor rotation) and corporate packages are available — call 704-421-8778 for groups of three or more, or see the full pricing on our Reservation Request page. Destination trips and purchase demos can also be arranged.
Yes. All students must have the ability to swim. Life jackets and helmets are required and are provided by CharlotteEfoil, or you are welcome to bring your own. A waiver form must be signed before your first flight — we send it once we receive your reservation request. These same safety rules apply across private lessons, family outings, and corporate sessions.
Sessions are typically 90+ minutes. Every session includes about 15 minutes of safety instruction and getting acquainted with the eFoil at the launch site, then our four-step learning process: foiling from your stomach, from your knees, standing up, and finally foiling with power and foot placement so you can fly over the water for longer periods. Most first-timers are flying by the end of their first session.
Step one is foiling from your stomach — gliding while lying flat to learn the hand control and make turns. Step two moves you to your knees so board, rider, and controller work together. Step three is standing once balance and control feel natural. Step four is true foiling: adding power and adjusting weight and foot placement to fly consistently over the water. Your safety is our priority throughout.
Bring a swimsuit, a towel, and a sense of adventure. We provide the board, safety gear, and instruction. Arrive about 30 minutes early to gear up and sign a waiver before your first flight. Standard morning sessions run about 8am–10am and afternoon sessions about 5pm–7pm, with flexible times available when you request a reservation.
Riders must be under 250 lbs and 18 or older, or accompanied by a parent. These limits keep everyone safe and the boards performing their best. If you are booking a corporate outing, the same weight and age rules apply, and there is a 10-person maximum tied to pontoon capacity.
Our primary public launch is Ramsey Creek Park at 18441 Nantz Rd, Cornelius, NC 28031 on Lake Norman. We also ride Mountain Island Lake and Lake Wylie, and can travel to private property or your event when there is safe walk-in access for board entry and retrieval. For destination trips we travel up to six hours from Charlotte, including Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, and Atlantic Ocean launches.
Sessions run seven days a week, weather permitting. If conditions aren't safe, we'll reschedule you at no charge — your safety and a great experience come first. Reservations are not confirmed until we contact you and documents are reviewed and signed, so we can also adjust plans when we confirm your booking.
